Welcome to the Virginia Tech English Department's Graduate Conference web page. We hope that you will find all the information you need to be a part of our conference this year and look forward to receiving your proposals.

The annual English Graduate Conference, scheduled for Saturday, February 26, 2011, is a student-planned, student-organized event. We invite graduate students from all universities to attend and share conversations about issues in English studies.

The Department of English at Virginia Tech offers three degrees at the graduate level: the MA in English, the MFA in Creative Writing, and the PhD in Rhetoric and Writing. As a diverse department, we hope to meet and talk with other graduate students studying, researching, and writing in all areas of English studies.

Our students and faculty are interested in many areas of English studies, but some of our interests include:

1. Literature (of all periods and genres)
2. Rhetoric and Composition
3.
Creative Writing
4.
Technical and Professional Writing
5. Cultural Studies and Critical Theory
6.
Pedagogy

However, we encourage submissions for interdisciplinary work from other departments including, but not limited to, Women and Gender Studies, Communication, History, Africana Studies, Race and Policy Studies, Political Science, ASPECT, Religion and Culture, etc.

So tell us, what's your perspective?

Please feel free to browse our web site to learn more about the conference, or visit The Department of English's website to learn more about our programs, faculty, students, research, and mission.
